- People long ago used to cure any sickness they had themselves.
For pains in the teeth they used to go to the Blessed Well and pay rounds there for them. They also used to rub pepper to the gums.
If a child had the thrush, they used to get the gander three mornings when the child was fasting and put his head into the child's mouth.
For the whooping cough they used to put sugar into the water and drink it and also give the child punch to drink.
They used to ask a man riding a white horse for a cure for whooping cough and whatever he would tell them was supposed to cure it.
For kidney trouble dandelion boiled in water was drunk.
