    Until it was approaching day
    Then he stepped forward at the dawn,
    He met a man called Shuffling Shawn
    To whom he did communicate
    His rare distress and hapless state
    And that he did not break his fast
    For eight and forty hours past
    Shawn took him to his cosy cot
    And for him good refreshments got
    Which pleased the refugee so well
    He did his whole adventures tell

    He studied to himself a while
    And then he uttered with a smile
    I have some money here to spare
    Which you must take unto your care
    And let of me what will become
    Pray let my parent's have the sum
    The money being such tempting stuff
    It was freely taken (shure) sure enough
    And when he started yous must know
    Shawn pointed out the way to go
    And showed him where he might be sure
    To spend some days in peace secure
    But when he reached his destined place
    A yeoman steered him in the face,
    And uttered out in tones severe,
