  1. (continued from previous page)
the cry ceased and it left the road and went in along the roadside and sat under a bush. He went in after it and shouted at it thinking it was a cat but when he looked at it he saw it had a little wizened face like a woman and a frilled cap on its head and it shivered with fear when he went near. He knew then it was a Banshee and he ran away as quickly as he could. After he left the Banshee came on to the road again and continued its caoin. A boy who was sick in that townland died the next day and it was for him the Banshee was crying it was said because she was heard crying first around the house where he was lying sick and then she travelled on and continued her caoin to the graveyard where he was to be buried. People in that district say the Banshee cried for every member of the family before they died.
