  1. Glenfarne is my home district. Lacoon is my townland, and I live in the parish of Cloonclare, and in the county of Leitrim. There are eight families living in it, making twenty eight people altogether. The most common name is McHugh's and Flynn's. All the houses are thatched except two - one ironed and the other is slated laborers cottage. Some old people say that Lacoon got its name from a bed of black flago [?] which is under Lacoon soil.
Francis Kelly is the only old person living in this locality. He does not know Irish. The townland is not mentioned in song or verse.
