  2. The worst storm my mother remembers was in year 1898 exactly forty years ago. It was in July on some of the last days of the month. It consisted of heavy rain thunder and lightning. It lasted only for two hours. It was a fine morning and early in the evening the storm started suddenly and no one expected it. All the bridges in the surrounding districts were swept away. The bridge whcih was over the river which seperates Corran from Derragoon or where the Iron Bridge now stands was brought away. It was a stone bridge and the iron bridge was built the following year. A stone bridge over the river separating Straduffy from Corran was swept away and a wooden bridge was put up in its place and a stone bridge was built about
