  1. A Ghost Story:
    One dark night about four years ago a man was returning home from Kiltyclogher. He came as far as a place called the Rock Gate where there was supposed to be a ghost. This ghost resembled an old man with a long beard. Just as he was passing by the gate something triped him and he fell sprawling across something hairy which he, having heard of of the ghost, thought was the ghost's beard. Immediately after he fell the thing beneath him began to move. The man leaped up in terror and ran back to the nearest house where he related his experience to its astonished occupants. When he had sufficiently recovered from the shock he started home but not until he had persuaded the man of the house to escort him past the haunted spot with numerous lamps and torches. When they reached the gate they saw after a careful but not fearless examination of the haunted ground lying by the roadside quite unperturbed by the late accident the
