  1. Cures
    (1) Mumps = A person whose parents have the same surname may lead the person affected three times in succession across a stream flowing between the estates of two landlords.
    (2) Whooping-cough :- Go three times underneath a donkey and eat oat meal on which it has breathed.
    (3) Warts:- Cut a potato into ten parts. Rub the warts with nine of them and bury the ten where nobody will walk. Another one is to wash the warts with the blood of a pig.
    (4) For evil:- Rubbing the part by the seventh son of the family.
    (5) Toothache:- Refrain from combing the hair over Good Friday.
    (6) Heart feaver:- By measuring the person affected.
    (7) A Disease of cows locally known as shooting is supposed to be cured by measuring the animal affected.
