   But her dwelling lies in yonder woods
   Behind yon mountain side
   Where the hares do play,
   Where it looks like May,
   And men a-hunting go,
   And the lark does sing melodiously
   On the heather where the moorcocks crow.

   They say she’s going to leave here now
   And cross the raging main,
   They say she’s going to leave me here
   In sorrow, grief, and pain;
   And if that be so I’ll a-rambling go
   Where the gentle breezes blow
   And I’ll follow her
   That I once loved so,
   That was my heart’s delight
