  1. Women around this place long ago wore petticoats made from lint. The lint was crushed so as to make it fine. When it was ready for crushing they brought it out to a field. A cart filled with heavy stones was wheeled over it to make it fine. Afterwards it was scutched with a scutching handle. It was then spun and made into little hanks, and afterwards sent to the weaver who made it into linen. When the petticoat was made a round hoop of wood was sewed inside around the bottom of it. This was the style in those days.
The men wore flannel trousers and also flannel coats. Instead of vests they wore things like binders which were called Bainíns..
The old men wore goat-skin bonnets which were strapped under the chin and had two tassels hanging down the back. These bonnets were called Killmarley Caps.
