  2. The fairs are held in the local towns and villages of the neighbourhood: Letterkenny, Rahpoe and Convoy. In Raphoe the fairs are held on the first Saturday after the 11th except the four old fairs which are held on 1st May and 22nd June and 27th August and the 4th November.
    In Convoy the fairs is held twice a year: 17th May and the 26th October. In Letterkenny there is a special place for the fair but in Raphoe and Convoy the fair is held in the street.
    When an animal is sold there is a lucky penny given back. If the buyer and seller is satisfied with the deal they strike hands. When a horse is sold the halter is given away. In olden times the people put on mud for a mark with a stick but nowadays
