- Long ago when the farmers wanted lime he made it very easily. He would go to a field where he thought the stones were. He began digging these stones which were called limestone. Then when he had enough stones to fill the kiln he drew them home and placed them beside the kiln. He broke them into small pieces and put them into the kiln.
