- After the Rebellion of 1795, the Irish people were ground down and treated cruelly by the Yeomanry.
There was a poor widow living in a little hut near "the great house" (Dromana) who had two young sons.
They were like most boys of their age- a little wild and thoughtless. They loved to stay out at night snaring rabbits in Dromana forest.
This was regarded at the time as a serious crime.
The poor widow came to the landlord to complain the lads.
He told her to send them to him and he would teach them a lesson. When nightfall came the boys were not back so the poor mother(continues on next page)- Collector
