  1. Long ago the priests used to bring a cart to gather the harvest collection. The priests used to get potatoes, oats, and hay. One year Fr. Costello was collecting. He was a curate in Crossmolina that time. When he went to Dooleeg there was a man in it that would not give a collection.
    The priest got very angry and he said that there would be a plague of rats around his house. Then he said said some prayers and he went away. Then the rats began to come one by one and at last there was an awful plague in it. There was not an potato but the rats had eaten. They were up on the roof of the roof of the house. They were running along the rafters.
