    There was once a man named Luke Connor from this district (around Moylaw). It is often I heard by father speak of him, God rest his soul. Well Luke Connor went (walking to be sure) to Ballina with his load of butter. He had about 20 lbs altogether. When he landed in Ballina he heard that the butter was ½d in the pound dearer in Sligo than in Ballina. Very good he set out for Sligo walking. Sold his butter and returned. You must remember, a mhic, that money was very scarce in those days and that ½d then meant about 3d or 4d in
