    centre of the basket was placed the vessel containing the fish or dip. potatoes were peeled by the fingers and dipped in the sauce and eaten. cabbage or turnips were sometimes boiled and then dressed with a little butter, (for kitchen.)
    Oftentimes oat meal mixed with water and allowed to sour was taken with the potatoes.
    The mixture was called "Suaththans"
