  1. The people had no houses long ago like we have now. Sod houses mostly there were in it, and sometimes stone-houses. The kind of roof that was on them was made of straw or rushes. Sometimes they used to put flag-stones that they used to get in a quarry for a roof.
    The fire used to be in the middle of the floor, and sometimes against the gable.
    In the corner nearest the fire was a bed, and in it the old woman of the house used to sleep and rest during the day as well as in the night, and from this fact, it was
