  1. The Night of the Big Wind was in the year 1839.
It was an awful bad night, the worst ever anyone saw. There was a big ministers house in Lacken ; it was the strongest house in the district. The wind began early on a Saturday evening. It threw the house but fortunately enough the minister was away visiting his friends and the servants were gone home and the house was locked, but all the things in it were ruined and all the cattle in the stables were injured.
