    The word Loughanemon means the lake of the women.

    castle long ago. It is broken down now. There are traces of this castle still in Murneen.
    The word Cloonfaughna means the meadow of the giants.
    The word Barnacarroll means the gap of Carroll. There was a church built at the cross-roads long ago. It was built in a field by the side of the road. This field belongs to Mr Martin Prendergast. The people had to pay tax every Sunday to Carroll.
