  1. The tailors used to go from house to house making clothes for the people. They used to mark the cloth with chalk and cut out with an old razor. They used hand-sew all the clothes
    The clothes worn by the present Captain Napper of Lough Crew, Oldcastle when he was a baby were sewn and embroidered by a one-handed girl, named Rose Cuffe of Moate, Oldcastle. She is not long dead.
    Every family grew a small plot of flax for linen for the family. The women used to weave their own cloth and spin wool.
