I was not born here. I am only here six years. The townland I live in is Erryarmstrong. I live in the parish of Clara.
The parish of Clara was not known of until 1770; before then it was divided into Kilbride and Kilmonaghan. Kilbride is called after St. Bridgid who built a little church there. I live in the baroney of Kilcoursey. There is a story which says the place is called kilcoursey; because Captain De Coursey was killed there. Other people say that is is called Kilcoursey because there is an old church there. Last summer the teacher brought all the school children up there. The castle and the church are in ruins. There are 40 families in the townland. There are 290 people approximately in clara. The most common name is Geoghegan.
