    there was not much traffic, so the game was not interrupted for very long, only occasionally when some one might pass by.
    Tug o' war, was another pastime.
    It was parish against parish. The strongest men in each parish were picked, and they pulled with all their might a very strong rope. It was funny to see them, digging with their heels into the ground to get a firm hold.
    First they pulled against the hill, and then down it. Very seldom they could get level ground.
    Weight-throwing and handball were not much practised by the people of this district, except at contests in Sports which were held in different places. Then running races, high and long jumps were practised for competition.
