- The place where the local fairs are held is in the own of Granard.
The fairs are always held there.
The animals which are sold there are pigs, cattle and sheep.
In some places in the country there is a fair held and the nearest place is Kil which is the oldest and best known horse fair in this district.
This remote place is one mile from our house.
It is a remote place for holding horse fair's nowadays. This well known place is situated two miles from Granard and midways between Granard and the well known ancient Village of Finea.
The Granard fairs are also very poplar and regards prices of stock they are generally up to standard. These fairs are also best represented in the midlands.
As regards toll of cattle the custom charges are normal. The funds of the custom tolls are expended on the cleaning of the streets where the fairs are generally held.
It is generally usual to return some money to the purchaser for luck called luck penny.
There is no special place in Granard for the fairs they are held on the streets.
Some years ago there was a field for the purpose but there is houses built on it for the labourer's.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
