  1. I live in the townland of Cloughernal and Cloughernal is in parish of Abbeylara and the Barony of Granard. There are about twenty-five houses in our townland. Three of them are slated and the rest are thatched with the exception of one which is covered with corrugated iron.There are about eighty nine people living in Cloughernal and the majority of them are young.
    There are about three people living in Cloughernal over seventy and they know English only but the young people know both English and Irish.
    The names of the old people are as follows:- Mrs Maria Kelly, Cloughernal, Granard, Co Longford.
    Thomas Heaney, Cloughernal, Granard, Co Longford.
    Mrs Early, Cloughernal Granard Co Longford
    A great number of people emigrated from our townland to America.
    Part of Cloughernal is very level and the rest is hilly.
    Reilly is the most common names in Cloughernal.
