  1. The local roads known in this district are as follows, the Old Road, the New Line, the Aughnagarron Road and the Cortnawillian Lane.
    The old road leads from the New Line down to the Cloughernal Road.
    It was the old road that the people used to go when going to Cavan but the old road was too hilly for travelling on and the New Line was made.
    The New Line leads from Granard to Cavan and it was made about sixty years ago. It was cut through Bartley Newman's land of Cloughernal, Granard, Co. Longford and John Grier's land and Pat McCabe's land and Michael Early's land and Hugh Batrim's all of Cloughernal, Granard, Co. Longford, and Mrs Brady's, James McGivney's and Tommy Kiernan's all of Carra, Granard, Co. Longford and leads on from the head of the old road into Granard.
