    Local marriage customs
    There are many old remarks regarding the months or days in which a couple is married.
    Old people imagined the day of the week on which one was married had very much to do with ones future health, happiness and prosperity. They used to say, marry on “Monday for health, Tuesday for wealth, Wenesday for the best day of all, Thursday for losses, Friday for crosses and Saturday no good at all.”
    It is a local custom when the bride and groom are coming to from church on the morning of their wedding, to hold a rope across the road and them until they ggive the poor people some money. It is also customary for a crowd to disguise themselves and go to the house of the bride on the night with some music and play and dance outside. They are called “bandbeggars.” Sometimes the couple usually have very little to say as to the arranging of their marriage. This happens when some people advice a certain pair to marry and
