- Long ago the houses were built different to what they are nowadays. The roofs were not started or thatched with straw they were covered with scraws and the walls of the houses were made of mud.
Long ago the fire was in the middle of the floor in a large pot and the smoke used to go through a large hole in the roof of the house.
The doors they had were not made of timber they were packed with straw. There were about four rooms in the house and each room could only contain one bed. Four or five people used to sleep in each of those beds. In some houses there used to be a bed in the kitchen. This bed used to be near the fire- Bailitheoir
