The serpent swallowed the two horses and Edmond pulled up a tree and beat the serpent in under the plough and ploughed the wood. He then drove into the yard with the serpent under the plough. His master got a terrible fright and asked Edmond to put back the serpent in the place from which he came, which he did. His master was one day talking to a neighbour, and he asked him if he could think of any possible means of getting
