    One evening Mr William Carrie, Knockroe, was coming home about five o'clock...

    One evening Mr William Carrie, Knockroe, was coming home about five o'clock with other companions of his after saving hay. When they came to his own house, they were surprised to see a priest, dressed the same as if he were going to say Mass, coming out of Mr Quinlan's field which is opposite his own house. The priest came down along the road towards them. He passed them, and they looked back to see where he was going to. But when they looked back no sign of the priest could they see.
    A few evenings later, Mr Carrie who was returning home after being away on a visit, was coming towards his house, and had reached the cross of Knockroe. He stopped for a moment to light his pipe, when suddenly he saw the same priest dressed in black walking along in front of him. He was surprised to see the priest open
