  1. A rock at the back of Ballyriggan Wood is called Gammel's Rock. It got its name the time of the cholera when a man who got the sickness went in under it and died there. His name was Gammel.
    A field also near Ballyriggan Wood is called the White Boys Field. It seems that during the time of the White Boys meeting were held there.
    A field to the east of Thomastown Wood ia called Party Yoeman's Field. They say that there used to be fights there long ago between the White Boys and the Yeomen.
    A field belong to Sherwoods is called Riordan's Field. The story goes that a man by the name of Riordan came to a fair in Kilfinane and sold something there and got drunk. Going home however he went into Sherwoods Field to lie down and got smothered in the grass. There's a furze bush growing in the spot where he was found.
