- There is a beautiful fort situated in the land of the late Mr Michael Cahill, of Ballyvocogue, Askeaton. It is circular in shape. It is surrounded, and guarded, by a double wall, six feet wide, wit a row of bushes on top. The wall, is so wide, that you could drive a horse, and cart, around it. There is an underground passage, running from the entrance of the fort, to a river, about a quarter of a mile from it. It is said, the Danes resided there, and that it was through this passage, they went for safety, when they needed water. There is also, supposed, to be a pot of gold(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
