  1. -Food in olden times-
The people had three meals a day in olden times. They had these meals in the morning mid-day and in the evening. The people always worked in the morning before their breakfast. They had porridge for their breakfast sometimes and had potatoes and sour milk for the three meals in most cases. People always sat around the table in the centre of the floor. The people ate home made bread, made from a mixture of home ground wheat, and Indian meal. Salt fish was eaten occasionally. It was (cos) customary to have a fish supper on Xmas Eve. Meat was eaten only on big feast days such as Xmas and Easter and at weddings, nearly always salt meat. Vegetables used were cabbage turnips and sometimes nettles. On Easter Sunday morning people ate a large amount of eggs. Before cups became common, small bowls or basins were used.
