  1. The birds that are found in this district are-: Swallows, Robins, Thrushes, Blackbirds, Wrens, Larks, and many others. The swallow is one of the birds that migrate. It comes to us in April and leaves us again in September. It comes to us to lay its eggs and wherever it builds its nest it is sure to return to that same nest yearly. The robin does not go away from Ireland it sings the whole year round. It is said that when Our Lord was dying on the cross the robin was trying to pick out the thorns out of his head and a drop of blood fell from the wounds of Our Lord on the Robins Breast and he is never since called Robin Redbreast. The thrush is a very fine singer. It commences to sing very early in the year. Sometimes it sings so early as Christmas. The sing of the blackbird is also very beautiful and melodious. The wren is the smallest of all the birds but he is the king of
