  1. The name of my home district is Bawnashanaclougha. It is in the parish of Schull and in the barony of West Carbery. There are five families in the townland. There are twenty two people living there. Mahony is the most common name in the district. There are two slated houses three thatched houses and a cottage in the townland. There are three people who are over seventy years living there. Mrs. Mary Hegarty, Mr. Denis Driscoll an Mr. Edward Harte. Edward Harte can tell stories in Irish and English. Houses and people were more numerous formerly as two families, the Woods and the Dempsys left. The land is good and some of it is in a bog. There is a wood growing on it. There is a stream dividing it from Barnakeane. People emigrated from it to America
