  1. As late as thirty or forty years ago all the young people of this Arigna district used to bathe regularly throughout the Summer months in the Arigna river. There were favourite bathing spots in this fast flowing river, the sheltered deep pools where the sun shone warmly. This custom of bathing in the river is nearly a thing of the past, you now see only children who are taken there for a wash in exceptionally fine weather. Lough Allen is within two miles of this district but it was never favoured by bathers as
