    Travelling Folk
Travelling folk still call to our home. They have been doing so for a long time. They are still very poor. They sell small articles such as pins boot lace rings brooches and mats. The people generally buy these from them. These travellers are generally welcome. They do not sleep in any house. They travel in caravans drawn by horses and they sleep in them. When they are out selling they bring food and they light a fire and make tea. They get bread and milk from the people. They generally travel in bands. The names of the best known families are Ward, Reilly, McDonagh and Heaney. Those whom most frequently visit our district are the Heaney tribe. They tell stories and sing songs and bring news from other parts of the country.
