- The old road leads from Dublin to Derry. In those times the people had to go on horseback because there were no buses, trains or bicycles. There was a stage coach that used to take them anyplace they wanted, and there were six horses in it.
About every ten miles they went they were changed. They were changed at Carrickmacross and at Castleblayney. The people were afraid to go on long journeys, because there were robbers who used to order the people out of the coach and take their money.- Collector
