- A grouse has a very plump body. She has reddish brown feathers. This bird has a very strong bill because she has to break hard seeds and other things.
In winter and spring she heats heather seeds and young grass in summer and moor berries in autumn.
She builds her nest near a marsh because when the young ones come out they can drink the water. Nine to ten eggs she lays and after sitting on the eggs twenty three days the young ones come out. All this flock stay together until some of them are shot by the sportsmen, then they scatter.
