- In the olden times the people hadn't many sorts of bread. They used to make wheaten bread from wheat, oat meal bread which is called "banac" out of oat meal, and boxty out of raw and boiled potatoes. They used no flour, and they used to grind their own corn with querns. There always some signs on the top of the cake such as making quarters of it, so that each person could take his or her own share. Bread was made twice a week on Wednesday and on Saturday. Griddle bread was made also with a griddle standing in front of the fire and the cake left against. They always put caraway in the cake to have a flavour on it.The bread which is made nowadays is much different than what was made long ago and the people were much stronger then.
