- The old coach road passes through Gormanstown, Clonard, White-Hart, The Bear of Balrothery, The village of Balrothery, and on through the Man-O-War. The mail-coach carrying passengers and letters from Dublin to Drogheda and to the north of Ireland travelled this road. Nearly a hundred years ago a famous robber frequented this road. It is said that he robbed the rich and gave it to the poor. It is said that he robbed the mail-coach on several occasions between Gormanstown and the Man-O-War. He often had recourse to stratagems to carry out the robbery successfully. At the Yellow-Hill half a mile the Dublin side of the Man-O-War, Collier the Robber robbed the mail-coach once. He arranged seven old hats on sticks at the back of a wall and made it appear that they were armed men. Then when the mail-coach came he jumped from his hiding place and shouted "deliver up."
