  1. About seventy or eighty years ago there was a woman living in Cruaighdrim and she used to churn always in the night. One night one (?) of the neighbours came in while she was churning and he took the churn dash When he was a while within he said that the would play-cards and the woman said no until she would have churned. When she had churned she put the sign of the cross over the churn with the churn dash. The man was looking at her doing that and he asked her why did she do that and she said because you or some other one might be praying that the butter would not come on. So that is why I done it. She told them to card-play now. When the man was going home she threw the
