    On the night of the big wind in 1839, it left houses roofless and it blew horses from one field to another. On a very high house in the district the roof was being blown off and men went out to tie it down. There were carts in the shed and they tied ropes from the roof to the carts. Before they had time to any more a blast of wind came and swept the roof and carts in the air and they
