    close to this place was sinking a foundation of a house and happened on a very large flag and the work men were not satisfied and they took up the flag and there was a covered passage underneath. By the direction of this tunnel of passage it leads to the ruins of an old castle at the other side of the road from the moate or Raheen at a distance of about one hundred perches.

    One time there was hidden treasure near the River Slaney. There is a castle near it and a man went to get the treasure which was hidden under a big oak tree. When he was digging a black hen and chickens flew in his face. He went the next day and
