- Garrits-town is situated in the town-land of Gaigue. There was a town there and fairs and markets were held there about one hundred years ago. There was a school in it also. There are some heaps and traces of old walls there but they are covered with furze.
Mr. Brady the previous owner of the lands on which Garrits-town is situated, found a quern and another stone receptacle when he was giving a hand at the demolishing of the old walls of Garrits-town. - Once upon a time there was a man named Michael Herson who lived in Gaigue going to a market in Longford about 3 o'clock in the(continues on next page)
