My father prepared the ground. In my district the ground is manured only when the the potatoes are about to be sown. When a large quantity of potatoes are sown they are planted in drills. When drills are used a plough is always used but when they are put in ridges a spade is required. The spades were never made locally but bought in a shop
The people help one another by lending the implements or dropping the potatoes.
When the potatoes are about one foot high they are moulded and when when they are very high they are sprayed. When the crop is very large the potatoes are put into a shed and sometimes into a pit and they are covered with clay and straw.
