    the hare.
When she found herself being chased so tightly she made for Polly's house and jumped in on window, but the dog snapped at her leg and bit her as she went in.
They followed her into the house and there was nothing there but an old woman who said that no hare went in there.
They thought she was hiding it under her chair and they looked and saw Polly's foot bleeding so they knew Polly was the hare.
