    The nearest bog to us is called Killohea. It is about one mile and a half from our house. In the month of April the turf-cutting starts and this is how it is done.
    First the farmer cleans the top of the bog with a spade! He cleans off the scraw and heather from the bank. The scraw is not thrown away but it is left on one side out of the way and when all the turf is cut it is thrown back into the bog-hole. Four men are usually employed at cutting the turf. These men are known as the slanesman, the catcher and two wheelers. The slanesman starts
