- Fetherston was on his way to evict forty families one May morning when he was going up the hill of Knockshebane he was shot. A man was behind the ditch and he shot him and he fell into the arms of the driver. A knock to Fetherston's door at the time of shooting and Fetherston opened the door and walked up the stairs. The Fetherstons did not know what had happened until the coach man came home and told them he was shot. A couple of years after two men went to Griffinstown church yard to cut a tree. When they had the tree down Fetherstown appeared and would not let them bring home the stick. The two men sat on one end of the stick and Fetherston sat on the other end. When twelve o'clock came Fetherston had to go "Now we can bring home the stick and the divil keep you said the men"
