    There is a lodge beside our gate and a river runs beside it. The river rose up and came into the house. It washed the fire off the the hearth, and washed away meal and things about the kitchen.
    The people in the house went into the yard and opened a little shore which had been stopped by dirt in the yard.
    They would have been flooded out only for that.
