  1. An Old Song (continued)

O Erin dear my motherland; It grieves my heart full sore

    (continued from previous page)
    O Erin dear my motherland
It grieves my heart full sore
To see her sons and daughters still going from her shores and daughters still going from her shores.
Poverty has no restraint your children still must roam.
To seek a free and foreign land beyond the oceans foam
I fear the lot will fall on me
Though in my youth and bloom
I too must cross the ocean's wave and share in exiles doom
If fates decree would favour me that I should stop at home
I ne'er would brave that stormy wave or leave my native home.
Or must I part from my native land.
That land that gave me birth
And leave my own true love behind.
    The fairest one on earth.
Its when I am on the ocean's bound
I'll think of her my pride
And on the pleasant days I spent down by old Moymet side.
