    One of the Heroes of Loughmore...

    One of the Heroes of Loughmore was John Lonergan who used throw an iron bar over the Castle. John Lonergan was sent off to Dublin by Baron Purcell on a message. There was to be a hurling match the day after. Purcell did not want Lonergan to play because he was too good but he was back two hours before the match started and when he came back he had to be put in a barrel of butter and after a half an hour he went and hurled a match.
